What's everyone using for digital distribution?

Just curious, after watching Derek and Jeff (CD Baby and Tunecore) post, I was curious, as most of the people on this site are independent artists. Are a lot of you using SnoCap?

I work for INDISTR (independent distribution) and I'm surprised that many of you are not aware of the site.

I think a lot of folks feel like they have to have their product in all the major online stores and subscription services.

I've never once used the iTunes store (I won't have iTunes on my machine) but I'd never in a million years ignore them in trying to sell product in today's market.

And, by the same token, I think you kind of need to be on Rhapsody, Napster, Yahoo Music, whatever the stupid MS/Zune store is (I might skip that one), and the rest of the big stores.

From there it looks to me like the service vector is something like Tunecore and other companies -- set up the content in the stores and administer the payments.

Yeah but payment terms?? You don't see your money for up to 45 days after the last day of every month. This is why I'm shocked that the independent artists aren't more into this way of digital distribution. Think about it, you play a gig with 100 people. Let's say 50 of them go home and purchase 1 track each. The artist is going to literally have $37.50 in the bank the next morning to buy gas, get breakfast, whatever, and go on to the next show. Never a wait for the revenues. It's just the same as the artists selling physical copies at their shows, they're paid on the spot. This is the simplest form of digital distribution, EVER. Aggregators are a waste of time.

CD Baby really offers the best deal for smaller indie-artists, IMO, but for one of my artists, we went with TuneCore this time around. The accounting is pretty stellar.

Gee, I thought the answer was going to be a Z Systems Digital Detangler. Wrong kind of "distribution".
