Purlple .API, Mini Pad Maxi Pad

rush session..les paul, fender twin ..late model [ehh] pLus efx boxes..i am running a shure thru a munch boxthat has a purple and an few Api pres [itried teh Shure thru the Fern that i used with another mic on geets happily but it wasn't happening with the sm]
and a 414 thru my milleninnia tt1
the Purple BLEW... middrangey [as compared to API] crappy twitchy and scrathy loose pots

getting near cutting and hit the pad on the API's that i ran the Shure thru[yeah i know, but i am an R&B Kat]

just like cutting drums at my friends studio ..the APIs SANG with the pads in and DRIVEN.

.again not a rocker by $$$ but by love and now see the differences and how to use pres for rawk

tell me what is the purple mystic..the construction sucked as did the sound

well...i have not come across an api that i did not like. always a cool tone.

every single piece of purple audio gear i have used has been fantastic. is it possible that the pre you used was damaged ? i have a mc76 limiter...its awesome...great build quality. i have used the purple BIZ...and plan on picking up a few for my room...in addition to the new compressor. i honestly was pretty blown away by the BIZ on guitars, kick and snare...and even vocals. i have alot of other preamps that i dig...and use....chandler, daking, hardy, neve, api, etc.

not sure what "mystic" the purple stuff has...but in my experience...its always been cool, great sounding stuff with a great build quality. if you own the purple..i would highly reccomend giving purple audio a call...i am sure they would sort out any issues.

if you dug the api better...thats great...keep using em' you really can't go wrong with an api preamp. my opinion and experience shows the purple stuff to be cool too.

best,
