Advice on channel strip

I need to add some channel strip to my studio. I've been thinking of a couple of models that would hopefully suit my needs (and my wallet). But since I most probably won't be able to test them all before buying I would appreciate your input on the following models;
TL Audio 5052 mkII
TL Audio VP-1 (x2 since I need it to be in stereo)
SPL Channel One (x2)
Mindprint DTC
Focusrite ISA 220 (x2)

This will be hooked up to Rosetta 800 and Nuendo. And they will mainly be used for synthesizers and mic's (perhaps a guitarr once in a while).

Why do you need a channelstrip?
I would start with a dual preamp with good DI's, something like a BAE312a and build from there. You could then later on add some stereo eq and compressors (lots of options) and build a killer stereo rig with easily outperforms something like 2 ISA220's (which definitely don't suck).

Or perhaps get 2 Chandler LTD's or channel strips (preamp and eq) ans start with a classic sound and build from there.

Good luck,
Dirk

when I hear channel strip I think: Pendulum Quartet.
you get a world class pre - a nice tracking EQ - a wonderful compressor and a deesser that works.

certainly above the TLA stuff (though I like TLA). Don't know about the GML.

I'd check the Pendulum and the GML and take the one I like better first (and the other later on )

That Pendulum Quartet looks really interesting, and so does the Chandel series of stuff. But since I 'need' to invest in a Apogee interface as well (the Rosetta 800 or the AD16x, still haven't decided yet) my budget doesn't seem to allow me to spend approx. GBP£1900 (US$3100) on a single channel.
Do you have any 'cheaper' suggestions?

I have a DTC with built in AES/EBU AD/DA option, it's a great channel strip. Very clean sound, lots of gain, no noise, great EQ (parallel design), LF, HF, tube limiter. IMHO the ADC & DACs sound very nice - well they don't sound at all, "you won't even notice they're there" - I like them.

I also have two Manley Voxboxen (boxes?), they've got more character, I really love the passive Pultec Style EQ, but if I'm looking for a "clean-not-too-much-coloured" sound, the DTC is my first choice.

(just ordered the Rosetta 200 for the Voxboxes to keep the battle goin, though...)

Most of the time I've connected my C12 to a Voxbox, but sometimes I just get better results with the DTC, it really depends on the music you're recording.
