Ableton like time stretches in Logic?

Anybody here who uses both? Can you tell me if you can do similar time stretches in Logic? I know you can change tempos of clips, but can you manipulate them in the super fluid, Live way?

...Debating between new Logic and new Live.

I'm recent Logic user, but have been using Live for a good 5 years. Unfortunately, no, Logic doesn't yet offer the immediacy of time-stretching that Live can do, which is really too bad. It's the one thing about Live that is so much fun, so quick to just reverse, pitch up and down, without any menus. As much as they've simplified Logic in version 8, I find it rather archaic with certain functions. Live 7 just came out and it looks very interesting, mostly due to the new drum racks and the improved sound engine. I plan on using both, I could never give up on Live, so rewired with Logic should pretty much give me the best of both worlds. That said, if Logic could offer the time-stretching thing that Live is so good at in future upgrades, I would be very happy to keep it all in one program.

L8 does offer time stretching in the arrange screen ...not sure how it compares to Live tho.

It's not realtime, but menu driven instead, no warp-markers, etc. Not fun at all, and I'm lazy. Once you get used to how Live does it, there's no going back to entering fields in a menu box, then process to see if it sounds how you like. Yuk.

thanks for the comments. I would miss the warping feature in Live way too much to give it up. Of course, I could use Logic with Live in rewire - but there's enough I could simply do in Live to maybe forget about Logic for now. Glad they dropped the price though!

By the way, does Live run smoothly rewired into Logic?

Logic 8's time stretching isn't menu driven, it's done right in the arrange window... You just grab it and it moves. Good for small clips, but no warp markers, so not as "cool'.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Also, if it is audio that is created in the same project you can choose the Follow Tempo option and it will do just that.

And you can take an existing audio file and re-bounce it and it will also have this option.

Not what Live will do but very helpful.

What logic does not have is the so called "re-pitch" function from ableton live ( Vari pitch). This makes audio behave like a tape machine. Tempo up= pitch up and visa versa. No streching algo involved here so the audio is not processed or so.This is a very usefull feature which should have been part of logic a long time ago but still is NOT
