Thread Starter | A very odd strange request but I need Help with Picking Tracks for an Album...
Hey fellow GearSlutz, I realize this is a rather strange request and I hope this is the right forum, but I am overwhelmed in a predicament. I am a solo multi-instrumentalist, I typically mix my own work... Nevertheless, I have approximately 40 songs to pick from for a debut album and to be quite honest, I have no idea how to pick songs for an album that will best represent my style, i just write this stuff... I am looking for someone to basically just listen to the songs which are mixes at this point and say "Hey this is what it should be", I realize its an opinion, but to me its very important to trust the opinions of people on this board who have a lot more experience pushing out records than I do.. Some of the mixes may not be current as I cant remember which ones are posted, but they are at least upper demo quality. As a struggling musician, I had called up a couple of management firms here in the Los Angeles area to see if they would do this, but they are trying to charge me a three to five thousand dollars for their opinion. I can barely afford the mastering. But I dont want to master all 50 tracks if they arent going to be on an album, I just want to pick 15 to 20 and say lets go from there... So, if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate the time that it takes to just lend me the ears and the experience... So that is perfectly clear, my style is a bit experimental, but a bit commercial too... Nevertheless, i hope someone can help is where you can find all the tracks... Best Wishes, Devon Drake ![]() You can either PM me or email me @ devondrake01@yahoo.com if your willing to help me... |

| WATCH OUT!!!!!! When you access this guy's website it tries to download a trojan horse virus to your computer. I got all kinds of alarms from AVG. Drakewire, either you are a low life scumbag or you've got a serious problem with your website. I certainly suspect the latter but you better look into this.

I can fix this... and I hope it didnt cause anyone any problems.... --------------------- update it is fixed... Those Bastards demos Profile » Drakewire - Drakewire dont ever go to a website called my-page-de.info they put a unicode character in your pages which opens up a trojan horse, this is a problem right now with Mysql injection attacks... which is hilarious really... I already found who hacked the site... Some Guy named Jason Charles in Flordia... Have his home address too... Its always smart to hack someone who has a masters in Computer Engineering... Will be sending his ISP a nice little letter... |

I don't think you're quite ready for the mastering stage yet. It sounds like there is some good stuff here but honestly 38 tracks is a lot to wade through and I only listened to the first 30 seconds of maybe 10 of the tracks. I know how hard it can be to do everything yourself and still keep some perspective but I really think that you need to narrow it down on your own and cut out at least half of these songs and then spend some more time working on re-tracking and mixing and really perfecting the top 15 or so songs that you feel are the strongest. At least that's what I would do before I spent any money on mastering. Ideally it sounds like you're looking for someone to play a producer role but if you can't find that person at the very least you should be able to get some perspective from friends to help you pick the top songs that you should be spending the most time, energy and money on.
