| Recomendations for a great "atmospheric" soft synth??!! I've been doing some short 30 second music bits on my Korg Triton for a local e business. Now they want a bunch more work done and I feel like I've used most of the sounds the triton has to offer and would like to know what are some of the best soft synths to check out for this kind of work. The type of music could be described as atmospheric and ambient. There are no drums and to me, it sounds somewhat like the music of Enya and some new age stuff. No vox. No drums. Just pads, breaths, mellow strings etc. So for those of you in the know, what are some soft synths you would recommend me check out. thanks, Steve |

| Thanks. That looks like what I need, but unless I'm reading it wrong, it looks like it's only available for Pro Tools Mac and I'm on PTHD Win XP...yes...one of the few. The demos I listened to sounded great and had the kinds of sounds my "client" wants. I've heard about a vst wrapper for PT,but my system is rock solid now and I hate to put anything else in there that's at all "iffy" any suggestions? thx, Steve |

| 3 pretty decent freeware plugins you should check out: Greenoak's Crystal: http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/ Superwave's P8: http://home.btconnect.com/christopherg/main.htm Ugo's Motion: http://www.cortidesign.com/ugo/ After checking those out if you still feel you should lay down your moneys - look at Native Instrument's Absynth 2, Bigtick's Rhino, and also Virsyn's Tera 2 and Cube. Each one of these I listed are great for atmospheres. As far as running the vst adapter - I have only heard good things about the fxpansion adapters. Cheers!!!

| the fxpansion stuff is as bullet-proof a piece of code as I've ever seen. I wouldn't be at all worried about it tweaking your system. -sm

| thanks for the tips guys. I'll check out the free stuff first and go from there. I'm sure the Spectra "atmosphere" is great, but if the free stuff is useable...well free is always nice. thanks again, Steve |
