Perhaps two Audio Technica ATM450 or a couple of Oktava MK-012. Ribbons are also super-nice as overheads, so I'd also consider getting two Cascade Fat Heads. Depends what sort of sound you're going for I guess, and what else you want to use the mics for. |

I love those ATM450, owned one of the first pairs off the line. I still prefer them on drum overheads over much more expensive stuff, they give it all. War |

a pair of SM81's used could be had for around 500. also i've been using a pair of AT4033 LDC'S ($200 each on ebay) and getting excellent results lately. For super cheap the AT Pro37's will get the job done. |

Put a little more for some peluso CMC6s. Very good quality/price ratio.

Been using the Shure KSM 109's in the "recorderman" technique with pretty good results. I think they're going for about $170 USD. my 2c........

Modded Oktavas, Shure KSM137s, Cascade Fat Head IIs (on sale for $350 for the st pair right now, too, do a search). All work great as overheads and are also very useful on tons of other things for added utility. |

Did you try behringer c2 cds ? I think they are like 60 Euros for a matched pair , i am not a behringer fan and i have a lot of great mics in my locker ( like neumann or akg ...) but this mics are great for the money and they work fine for Overheads and the acoustic bass . Its not a joke , try them ....

MK12 matched pair from the Sound Room (no, I don't work for them or have any affiliation with them). It's the best way to ensure you don't get a dud of a mic. Plus the case is nice. |

Oktava is back in the saddle. To my knowledge we've not had one QC issue of failure to date. War | |
