Update for Airwindows Density and Drive (free plugs)

I added a dry/wet control that bypasses both the highpass and the distortion on the 'dry' channel.

If you are worried about loading old versions of songs with these plugins, you might want to stick with what you've got: the only change is the dry/wet control added on the bottom. This does mean that some hosts will just stick the new control on at its default setting (of full-wet) making it honor all saved settings from the previous version. However, some like AU Lab won't load if the number of controls has changed, so be warned.

For those who are interested in the new version, the dry/wet control makes some fantastic things possible. For normal use you'd be leaving it all-wet, but on instruments such as bass, it's incredibly useful to be able to split off a separate sound, highpass it, distort it, and then blend it with the dry signal (NOT highpassed at all). I was immediately getting some terrific aggressive bass tones, and since it's a distortion channel being highpassed, peaks don't stick out as much when you crank up the highs. This has made Density and Drive even more useful. It might seem weird to have an output level and then a dry/wet on a distortion plug, but you gotta try it with a lot of highpassing to trash up just the high or mid frequencies. it was incredible

...and it inspired me to do other stuff that will end up as products, so while the thread is here:

Next up, "Shelves" and at last another style of tape-emulation plugin.

Shelves is a shelving EQ with treble and bass controls and a frequency slider. The thing about it is, it's made to shift stuff forwards and back, not simply louder and softer, and it's also using a type of filter nobody else is using, with the result being- it sounds really astonishing. I'm going to get a LOT of use out of this one, for really broad-brush stuff I've never done anything remotely like it.

The tape emulation plugin is a response to how impressed I was with the relatively uncolored but incredibly vibey Virsyn V-Tape. That one's very, very cool- but I can do it for $60 with no dongle. I'm going to make something that reacts the same way to things like those very reedy synths and clips with a similar dull solidness and has a type of, hard to explain it, 'tape grain' but it's not going to be a bunch of white noise. Trust me. Anyway I have a plan and I'm calling my shot- it's going to be 'tape emulation that you CAN use on the 2-buss'. Special emphasis on when you're not clobbering the 'tape' to death. I have a plan, more about this when I have some test builds ready.
