Loud Vocals in the control room...yes?

Im tracking this loud punk band...very Drive Like Jehu, Fugazi, etc. It's all vibe, I tend to think the singer would do his best thru a 57 with us sitting around in my control room with some beer and the mains cranked. I couldn't imagine him in the vocal booth. I'm gonna dirty up the vox anyway, so i don't need the cleanest signal. Ive heard many people do this...will I have a problem with too much bleed?

I did the same thing, not to much bleed in the lower end but i still had bleed.
I also found the vocal coming off thin compared to other studio mics, my favorite thing was to track the vocals with a 57 thought and then copy and paste another track and make one track slighty off gave me a bigger sound.

Ive tried this with my own vocals and other clients as well and I get weird phase issues doing this. Wouldnt recommend it.

Its done all the time

What you could also do is cancel most of the mix going through the mic if you need to .
