I really like my URS A and N series and you can get a bundle that has one of each for around $400. They have a few different styles of eq to choose from that have the normal or graphic style look. You can download a demo and try them out if you have an iLok. There is also the S series but it's more expensive.

Here's a few links to online stores that sell iLoks:

You can just do a Google search and find dealers if you want to search for the best prices. I just bought mine from Mercenary because I think they are a great dealer and Fletcher knows whats up.

Take some time to check out all the plug-in demos at the manufacturer's websites. Two of my current favorites are the URS N series and S series (which is strange because I never really liked the SSL board eqs.) But you owe it to yourself to demo them before purchasing, everyone's opinion will differ.

Good Luck!
(warning...plug-in sluttiness is neverending).

Both the URS and the Sony are good--URS for color, Sony for clean fixes.

If you had both of those--and, granted, they're both fairly expensive for plugins--you'd be pretty well covered.

Also try filterbank if your on Mac, I am sure it works RTAS.
I have the Sony which is nice and enjoyed the URS although on HD I use MDW most of the time.(HD only)
Demo them all against each other then pick which one you like best.
