Stevie Wonder synth bass sounds using a bass guitar Hello. I'm looking to recreate in a live setting the synth bass tones of Stevie Wonder (eg Black man, Jesus Children of America, Higher ground etc). AFAIK he used a Moog. I'm not sure what the model is. I saw Nathan East playing with Herbie Hancock earlier this year and he got some pretty cool synth bass sounds using his bass guitar with some kind of pedal I think. Anyone know much about the bass pedals? How can I get close to this Moog sound (if that's definately what Stevie was using) using a bass guitar? Thanks! _

I've been pretty successful emulating all those squishy, farty, MiniMoog basslines with my electric bass plugged into a Korg G5 Synth Bass Processor. It's a large stompbox, doesn't require any special pickups, tracks remarkably well, and definitely does the filtered square wave or envelope-modulated pulse width disco/funk sound beautifully.

Thanks for the replies so far! If any of you have example recordings of these chains you're suggesting, feel free to post a snippet... Cheers. _

I have a PodXT (guitar with bass and FXjunkie software) and I don't like the included synths. Korg G5 I love (and have) but doesn't respond well to active basses - even in bypass. Herwig

What you need is the SWR MoBass. It will make your fender bass sound just like a moog synth. you will not be disappointed.
