Thread Starter | Question about RADAR Ethernet Transfer
I wonder if any of you can help me. I've got a session coming up and I will need to transfer the files from RADAR to Protools (Mac). I know that it's possible connect to a PC using ethernet. I'm wondering if it's possible to connect the RADAR to a MAC. Does anybody have any experience with this? Thanks, |

Go to the Radar website and they will be more than helpful. Yes, you can do it with a Mac. Different rules depending on OS X or OS 9.

I do ethernet transfers from my IZRadar to ibook all the time. I use transmit software and it has been flawless for me. OSX 10.2.8 Micah |

You can also export the files to DVD as Broadcast Waves (BWF) and import the into PT or any other program that supports BWF or even WAV.

There is a thread on the izcorp.com forums where a guy gives steps on how to network your Radar and Mac. It is one of the sticky topics in the "Radar 24" forum. It works great with Jaguar but not so smooth with Panther as of yet. |

You can get into the Mac via ethernet one of two ways 1) by using an FTP client, or 2) by setting up your Mac as a CIFS/Samba server. Once a CIFS server is established on your mac, it is really the easiest way to transfer things, in my opinion. However, Mac OS 10.3 has complications with CIFS/SAMBA (newer version of Samba), so if your running "Panther", FTP may be the better way to go... There is a "how to" for CIFS/Samba that I posted at the IZ site in the RADAR 24 forum called "Radar/CIFS (SMB/SAMBA) Networking with Mac OS 10.2.5" Best of Luck, - Gary |

Thanks for all the input, everybody. We got the job done. It took quite a bit of messing around befrore we finally figured out that the ethernet card was not seated properly inside the RADAR. Once we'd made connection, it was a simple matter of using Fetch to retrieve the files from the RADAR ftp server. Couldn't have been easier. Just plug the RADAR right in to the ethernet hub and hit download. I might add, that I was very impressed with the RADAR's stability. We were downloading files to the MAC while were simultaneously backing up files from the external to the internal drive of the RADAR. It had no effect on the download speed whatsoever. Solid as a rock |
