I love looking at mics and mic collections! I'm starting this thread to look at other people's awesome mics...not my fledgling collection! But, since I started the thread, I'll embarrass myself by posting mine 1st:
(I have 2 out on loan right now...)
Lets see yours!

Lets see yours! | Do you notice any difference between the GT66 and the ST66 mics? I have a GT and have thought about adding an ST to have a pair.
Thanks
Will
BTW I'll post a pic of mine but not until my Lawson gets here Thursday.

Looking forward to seeing your collection.
No, I can hear no *real* difference between the ST and the GTs. I should say, no more than the difference between 2 GT or ST mics. Given that they are tube mics, there will always bee a small amount of difference between them (this is relatively true of solid-state as well).
At one point, I had 2 GT66s and 1 ST66. I tested all 3 and there wasno discernable difference between either of the GTs and the ST. I took back the GT because of an issue with the power supply. I am probably going to buy the GT66 back at a deep discount, sans power supply (I already have 4 of them!),
Why would I want 3? Because they are RAD!! Quote:

You guys are punters compared to what L. Ron Hubbard (of Scientology fame) accumulated in his lifetime:
(My own collection is much more meager!)

Okay my earlier comment was tongue in cheek but amongst my weaponary I have:
Original U47 (short body)
Original U67
2x U47 fets
UM57
RFT CM7151
CMV 563 with various capsules
Original C12 &C24
Lomo 19a19 x 2
and a load of other vintage ribbons, condensors, dynamics and various modern things like a c800g.
If I get round to it I'll take a centrefold shot on a satin sheet.
Cheers
Paul
P.S. If only I could sing....

Several years ago in a recording forum someone posted asking for technical advice. It was something like: I've got a problem with my microphone and was wondering if anyone here could help me. My friends and I will drive by some girls and say into the mic "Hey good lookin', we'll be back to pick you up later!", but when we do come back later, the girls are never there. What gives?? |
