I'm curious what those of you using a/d converters and recording to your computer hard drive line into after your converter?

I've heard good responses about the Apogee AD-16x and am going to try it out for myself soon. I am still uncertain what route would be the best to get the sound into the computer.
Also I plan on getting some sort of monitoring interface something like the Grace Design m904.

Would I be able to line the Apogee directly to the computer via firewire expansion card and line out from the apogee to a monitor interface at the same time? Or would I require an audio interface in between the converter and computer and line the audio interface to the monitor interface?
