| Peluso 2247SE or Mojave MA200 ...cant decide.. 1st off....purchasing one of these is some months off.....(saving up for a hi quality mic, pre and EQ to buy at all at once..) But my problem is that while my Blue baby bottle has it's uses...vox aint one it's strong suits...it's too dark for my voice..really low mid heavy and a bit..dare I say...'veiled' sounding?...have to eq it alot to get a useable sound out of it and even THAT is just merely "serviceable"... I do some hiphop vox as well as folk/jazz type singing.. I want something that sounds about 90% "there" when I play back the raw tracks...it sounds like record, ya know?...i've heard great things about both mics...the mojave is cheaper obviously but not by too much and the peluso i've also heard is quite sweet... any thoughts or insight? I

| Totally different animals. I guess I'd lean Peluso for the voice but the MA-200 slays anything on acoustic instruments. However, the Mojave is far, far brighter, and if your Blue isn't bright enough for you maybe you do want the MA-200. I own an MA-200 but I don't have a Peluso, and if I was getting a Peluso, it'd be the 22 251. |

| Haven't tried the Peluso... yet... but I absolutely hated the Mojave... WAY bright and brittle in the top... Totally unnatural... reminded me of my old Rode NTK toob mic. Just my 2 cents. |

| "brittle." Brittle. What does this mean, "brittle"? Brittle to me means fragile, as if there is breakup in the sound...it's not smooth in its output, it's irregular and spitty. No the Mojave MA-200 (properly functioning) is not "brittle." Bright, yes. Awesome transient response for a tube mic, yes. But smooth in what it does, not irregular. And certainly Rode has never produced a mic that touches it to my knowledge. |

| there is quite a price difference between these 2 mics. i have not used the peluso. i own the ma-200 and will say it can be a bright, and a bit sibilant on SOME singers. i do enjoy the mic though a lot!! what has made you decide between these 2 mics?? just curious ![]() |

| I've tried both, and while I personally own neither, I'd strongly recommend the Peluso. It worked better on every source that it was tried on, and I'm most definitely going to be buying one of their mic's soon as a result. |

I would probably buy the 47 LE first if all my mics disappeared and I had nothing. It's a fabulous mic. | |

| Well..i been lurking on here and at other forums for quite some time now...and I kept noticing how superlative the posts were about the mojave....people really seem to dig THAT mic.....and it's just so reasonably priced.... yet..at the same time..i've been working with the 'pro-sumer' end of equipment for some time now....ive cut my teeth on it...and I now want to drop the dough on some "big league" equipment to where my sound and mixes can REALLY compete with the big boys....i've had the experience to work with hi-quality gear before with guys who know how to get good sounds and the combination is like a revelation for an artist like myself....so..i'm now well on my way to saving up $10 G's to drop next year on a great VOX recording channel, and some nice monitors (looking at those ADam a7's with a sub) in the mean time...i'm going to stores in seattle trying out different mics and pres to find sumn that's not only good for my voice but also the occasional client that will pop up at my humble little studio...

| Lives for gear | The Mojave is the polar opposite of the Baby Bottle. The BB has an 'upside down' smiley face...the MA-200 has a big presence rise in the high mids and high frequencies. A more fair apples to apples comparison would be the Mojave Audio to the Peluso 22 251 (or maybe the Peluso P12), which aren't exactly like each other but I think they are tonally somewhat coming from the same place, and far more similar in price too. The extra couple hundred dollars of the 22 251 gets you multiple polar patterns, which can expand the versatility of a mic greatly. The 2247LE isn't an exceptionally bright mic, but it isn't a 'flat' mic either. It has some air in the top, more than your Blue Bottle which is actually rolled off in the top. In cardioid the LE has a relatively strong proximity effect (low frequency boost), more than some mics (less than a U47, but more than the Mojave for instance), and less than others. IMO, the LE is definitely more versatile. Between the fact that it's a bit more neutral in frequency curve from lows to highs, and the fact that it has 9 polar patterns makes it a given that it is able to be used in more places. Mics that are a lot darker (like your Baby Bottle), or mics that are brighter will be a bit more application specific.
