Thread Starter | Dynamic mics and Ribbon mics on Hi-Z inputs? As source components typically like to be loaded down, and ribbon mics like high impedance inputs for flattest frequency response why not use a Hi-Z input? Of course, it would take a either an XLR to 1/4" unbalanced adaptor or a mic cable that does the same, but is there a reason not to do this? All I can think of off hand is that Hi-Z source components should use short cables as they tend to pick up noise, but would this be an issue when the source is still low impedance? |
