The best I've ever heard for that application is a KM 56, the second best would be C12a.

Depending on the guitar and track, I've been using:

AT4047
VM-1
Schoeps Transformer body with MK4
M-160
414 B-ULS

Those are all good suggestions. On the cheaper side of things I'll suggest the Shure KSM141. I actually prefer that to the Neumanns most of the time.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but the AKG C451 sounds great on acoustic guitar.

yeah I use 2 mics, the akg 451 paired with a LD, usually my mojave, then take the direct out as well and mix up the middle, I am very happy.

depends, of course, on the guitar, the music/purpose, and the preamp, but the royer 121 can often sound great, too... i often combine a 121 at the 12th fret with a 414 B-ULS off the body... and i use a Pendulum tube pre for a cleaner sound and either a Phoenix or a Chandler TG-2 for more color or attitude...

hope this helps some...

My present favorite approach is to record acoustic guitar using a figure of 8, coincident matched pair, in an XY or Blumlein pattern. Occasionally I will keep the track stereo, but usually I will blend the X & Y to give me the tone that I am after in a mono track.

on the "modern" side I use a KM184 around the 12th fret and an AT4050 over the shoulder and really dig the results so far.

So many mics work for acoustic guitar -hard to pic. Some I like are U47, RE15, D19. I don't dig the little bright ones though, i.e. 451.

I have a cheaper taylor guitar and the Neumann TLM-103 sounds the best on it, I know people hate this mic.

God please let that be true!

Their CM7 is my favorite mic, even among some other rather big dogs, and a KM54 is my favorite acoustic gtr mic by far. Wunder making a 54 would be stellar. I have a KM54 I love that took me a long time to track down, but at 53 years of age it's not going to last forever.

To answer the question - for most styles and most guitars a KM54 is my favorite, followed by a C12.

I like natural sound, so that means a dynamic mic.

460B is really good, but my favorite is a KM56. Actually an SM2 (stereo KM56's) is phenomenal.

I get great results with Schoeps CMC6 bodies with either mk2 or mk4 caps. Also, the Sennheiser MKH800 is fantastic and, dare I say, a bit better than the Schoeps. Anxiously awaiting a pair of Wagner U47s; the first test will be... you guessed it, acoustic guitar! Always like to try a mic on acoustics for some reason. Perhaps that I'm a guitar player has something to do with it!?!
