| PRO audio rental.....boston? hi all. i've been trying to find a place in the boston (ma) area that rents pro audio gear. so far i've only been able to find places that deal with live sound, and the best they could do was some 57's/58's and the occasional DAT machine. i'm interested in preamps, condensors, ribbons, converters, outboard fx, compressors...you know, pro audio gear. any leads would be much help. thanks -dan |

| Theres gotta be somewhere better than that in MA. I had to use Dreamhire (NY)to rent some converters because I couldn`t find anybody here. It cost us a fortune in shipping and though I would do it again I`d much rather find a place around here.

| yes i have tried both, infact PAD is my usual dealer. niether one rents. if i could put 8 grand on my credit card i might consider buying then returning after the session, but they would probably start to not like me after a few months of buying the same gear then returning it a week later, then getting it a week later, then returning it, etc.... so that isn't an option. maybe if i only had a few project a year...but this is a real working studio. if i need a tape machine i'm not about to buy and return, i need to rent or buy to keep! besides, if i had that type of credit, i'd probably just blow the whole thing on the gear and not return it. i want to keep it! after all, i'm a gear slut! i look at a rental house as a great way to not need to own $100,000 worth of gear. if i have a classical session, i can rent some very clean pres and converters, or get color if i have something else. i don't need to own 5 or 10 vocal mics, just one or two more universal ones. if they don't fit the vocalist properley, i can rent something else. as of now, if i can't get it at adam's or find a friend that has what i need, i'd have to go 4 hours away to NY (yes, i know i can ship). not the best option, but if i need something what can you do? |

| vartan, thanks. not the best selection either, but some more and different options. i'll have to give them a call as i'm not sure how much of that stuff they actually rent. the web site was unclear on that. i really am looking for more high end then what these place have. they seem to just touch on the stuff i'm usually looking for. |

| Maybe we should pool all our resources and start a high end rental company here. I can offer about $30 for starters. ![]()

| Hey all, Just checking to see if anything has changed in almost 3 years... Is there any place in Boston to rent hi-end gear? I've searched on this forum, elsewhere online, called a couple studios... Nada. I'm looking for stuff like 1073/84s, Trakkers, and U67s (mebbe even a 47!). Tall order, eh? Anyone?! |
