| I'd go for a new microphone. Audio Technica 4047 has a thick warm sound, and cheap to boot. Check out their website for audio clips. |

![]() Will it really so big change ? You know ... everybody promise you the same thing , when I was buying K2 , everywhere I read "warm smooth sound" (like here http://www.rodemic.com/downloads/K2_SOSus_0704_2pp.jpg ) but it doesnt (I think) . Can you (or anyone) explain to me how big change it will ? Does anyone owned K2 and 4047 ? Thanks you very much | |

| I own the K2. Overall it has a lot of pressence , so most of the time it gets partnerd with My Older V76 valvepre. this helps to thickenit up, but if you want really thick then a new mic is in order. there was a mic shootout on heer a fewdays back and the pelluso 2247le seemed to be the clear thick and warm winner in the low priced caagory. |

| Those Apogee preamps are just about the best 'built in' pres there are. They're really really great. I wouldn't change them. The RODE is an obvious culprit here. They're lovely on some voices but I usually find them a bit too shrill...I wont say bright because they're not as bright as say a Brauner, but the Brauners always sound beautiful. J |

| Gear addict | same here, I worked together with a project that used the K2 on every voice (only mic avail.), problem is that it doesn't really suck, but has a very harsh end. I lent him a modded MK-219peo on a few projects and he was immediatly convinced the K2 had to go. The AT4047 is a good choice (certainly if rap/hiphop is your thing), if it has to be more vocal, check out Oktava's MK-105. You won't find a lot of info about it on here, but damn it sounds great...and thats before u saw the price! Pzz |

| I can't comment on the K2, but I have used the Rode NT2 a bunch and it is has the same bright, edegey cold sound that I think you are describing. If you went from using a NT 2 to an AT 4047 you'd notice a big difference in the way you are looking for. Like any advice you get (especially internet forums) don't take it for fact, I've got a good relationship with a dealer and he let's me try stuff and if I don't like it I can bring it back. Or sometimes try out a demo version. |
