Has anyone did a side-by-side comparison of the ITB/OTB- vs Mac/PC-threads yet? Which one do you think reads better?

IMO they're both 'Epic'...

Hang on, I'm confused. I though the mic made it sound epic, not the computer.

you guys are wrong.

clearly this thread is better than any others. though i do feel the itb vs. console threads are usually a bit more crispy than the mac/pc threads. thumbsup

look...here is my empirical reasoning about why THIS thread is still the best...

i used a u87 with a custom mod into a chandler germanium AND a NEVE 1073 into a dw fearn eq with a bit of la-2 (not the reissue !!) into a mytek converter. oh..and not to protools..that sucks. i used NUENDO...or was it cakewalk...i don't know..but it was the f!@#$ best i can tell you than. i did shoot out after shoot out before i committed to this thread. IMHO...this is the best thread. period.

after monitoring closely...its so obvious that this thread has more depth, is punchier, gets a better stereo image, and tastes alot better as well. additionally i found that it translated well to almost every other sytem i read the thread on. there is simply a more TRUE nature to this thread than any other. now, i am all for vibe, and warmth, and all that stuff...but this thread is just accurate....really...like you are in the room.

oh, this is a monkey p!@#@ on a peace sign next to a hipster who wanted me to add more tape delay like john lennon to his crappy vocal track last night..and the way i felt about it all.

Nothing is ever really better, it's all subjective, different for each person. These things you've listed all have their own sonic signatures, quirks etc. None is better, they all have a specific sound.

I think people go gahgah over the gear and the name drop factor and forget what they're even doing in the first place. I've made great albums using shit.

(maybe I missed the point of this thread lol...)

12khz or 50hz ?
Gawd... What a stupid question. The obvious answer is 50Hz. I boost all my mixes by a good 15dB to give it that warmth.

Who needs 12khz anyway? 12khz mixes always sound so wimpy. That's why I roll off everything north of 4k. Makes sure non of that 12 sh*t gets in there by accident.

Obviously you are young and don't remember disco or you'd never ask.
