large vs small diaphragm

are there any particular drawbacks/advantages of using mics with small diaphragms as oppposed to large ones?

smaller ones are typically more accurate, their smaller mass is moved more easily when sound pressure is applied.

some say large diaphrams respond to bass better. I don't think this is actually true.

in my experience larger ones often have more of a "sound", I'm guessing this is also due to their larger mass and therefore larger resistance to movement imparting the character.
