my friends recorded with ed rose and i guess he is also really cool. but i think that everything is really high end in his recording.

Quirky sounds-in-service-of-the-song engineering or "holy s&*t, those drums and guitars are HUGE!!!" engineering? (OK, that's "production," but the engineer has to execute the producer's vision).

Mix engineer only or tracking & mixing engineer?

The classical folks will have a field day with this topic...
