Setup Advice..

Hello everyone --

I'm just wondering what would be the best way to setup my Focusrite ISA 220 with an MBOX?
I just want to make sure im not coloring my sound too much. Here's what im doing so far:

I have the Focusrite ISA 220 going into the MBOX input via XLR to TRS cable ( its so that the input bypasses the MBOX's built in mic pre ).
From there i choose Line on the MBOX.

I adjust the Focusrite Input Gain until im getting good levels on the ISA 220, and i leave the Output and unity gain.
From there on i adjust the input gain knob on the MBOX until im getting good levels in Pro Tools.

Is this proper?

Or would someone suggest a different approach. Thanks

If there is a digital a/d otion available for your Focusrite SPDIF would be the best way to get into your MBox!

You could also set the mbox's input control to unity, if they tell you where that is, and use the focusrite's output gain to set levels in protools. Depends on which gain you think is better.

And i can't find info ANYWHERE ( even when i asked Digidesign themselves ) where the Unity is on the MBOX...
They just skipped around the question..
