SSL...Pro Convert...No Apple support. Huh?

So I just heard about SSL's new Pro Convert application.

Does anyone else think this is really, really GREAT?

Does anyone else wonder why in the world it's a PC-only application?

Huh?

I use Nuendo on a PC.

I think this is the greatest thing.....ever.....

Hopefully I'll be mixing a ton more pro-tools projects.

The reign is over

This software is formerly known as EDL Convert Pro. Currently available only for Windows. Maybe SSL will change that in future.

Couldn't you just get an m-box for two hundred bucks and open all the pro tools sessions you want?

Exactly....The idea here is have an audio session in let's say Cubase then convert it with fades and sample accurate timelines to Protools, Vegas, Sonar, etc in THEIR native format. A very useful tool in todays world.

The application has been on PC for years so knowing that SSL has money behind it, I think this application has a very bright future..

I'm using a mac Pro, Nuendo, Symphony system. Symphony is Mac only so I have option to use it without another soundcard.

I really hope they bring this out for the Mac too, if so it will be killer.

Alternatively you could build yourself a cheap ass PC server, network it, and Bob's your uncle!!

Yes of course there are always work arounds. I have a PC in the studio lounge but I have spent the last year trying to simplify my DAW as much as possible and I'd like to keep it that way!

I hear you.....but what to do!

'Pro-Covert has been developed over the past seven years by Cui Bono Soft' specifically for the PC and I can't see a Mac port being made available anytime soon!!

But it doesn't take much effort to consolidate the regions and import them into Nuendo.

I could very well be spouting off at the mouth here, but I've heard from some sources (not neccessarily reliable) that saving a session as .omf allows this type of conversion to an extent.

Anybody know if there's any truth to this?

opening OMF files is a paid option on PTools... so it does work for most software but PT (as always) has to make this difficult.

the only thing that really doesn't appeal to me in SSL pro convert is no support for cakewalk sonar files (.cwp and .cwb). which is my main daw platform.

And if anybody from SSL is reading this, OMF support is really not enough for me to go out and spend 800 dollars. to have just about the same as i have without it.

I Pro Convert did support sonar files i'd go out and buy this ASAP,but, as it stands, it's not worth the purchase for my purposes. i'll keep going the consolidated wav files and or omf route.
