C800G vs peluso 251 and VTB

Ok I need some advice.....I want to buy a sony c800g but cant afford it right now, so I'm looking for an alternative. it will be mostly used to record my voice....higher tenor you can listen to this example file://www.sendspace.com/file/s6gize or at myspace.com/immaci (i'm the lead singer) also excuse the mix on the wma it was a quick mix then I acidentally bounced it with additional highs on the mix buss plus compressed into a wma with no dither...ect, and Im out of town so its the only version I have on me... but I have heard the peluso vtb is supposed to be a c800g clone, anyone been able to compare? I also have been hearing good things about the 251 also....I prefer the clear bright sound of the c800g, Im looking for something that will set in the mix well, and be able to chach the sizzle in my voice... given that which one would you recomend? VTB or 251?
ps....I'll be using it with a Pacifica and 737sp more than anything else.

sorry I dont know how to post links right.

thanks.

I may be wrong, but the only C800 I've ever used was quite the opposite to bright - markedly round and warm, and I found myself EQing voices non-stop. Sounded great as a drum room mic, but certainly not bright.

251 might be a better bet for you I think.

We had a C800g side by side with a Lawson 251 and they were closer than we expected. A tad more color on the Lawson.

Yeah, a $6000 drum room mic.

We did a big shootout last weekend with the whole line of peluso mics and the results are going to be posted in this topic:

The C800 is NOT a C800G . totally different mic . different capsule , different circuit .
