Car commercial music rocks!

I could be alone in this, but I think car commercial music kicks A$$ as times.

Who are the guys that do this stuff? Is there a place to get more of their work?

I want to hear more. Maybe there is a "car commercial" compilation somewhere on the web. I am always serarching for inovative music like this.

There's a saturn commercial that's running right now that has a pretty rockin' drum sound. I picked up my guitar and played the lick the other day in about ten seconds. Catchy.thumbsup

car commercial music is often songs from real bands, or songs created to sound exactly like (without violating copyright) a particular song from a particular band. there's a commercial on right now (cadillac i think) that uses "stars" from Hum, which makes me feel like i'm 300 years old. i'm bracing for the day i hear a soundgarden track in a swiffer ad.

that said, i think making 30 sec tracks for commercials would be the coolest job in the world

Hmm, here is some insight:

The Volkswagon commercials feature songs from the latest album by Wilco "Sky Blue Sky"

The Regions Financial commercial features "Birdies Singing" by Kelley Stoltz. It's on his album "Below the Branches" released by Sub Pop.

The University of Phoenix commercial uses the song "Bleeding Hearts Show" from the New Pornographers' album "The Electric Version" released by Matador.

The HP (I believe) commerical with the all the people dancing in the square features a song from the band The Books.

The Sprint commercial where people are tying their shoes uses the song "Anecdote" by Ambulance LTD. The older Sprint commercial has a song by Architecture in Helsinki

Andrew Bird songs are used in Residence Inn commercials

Sweet Road by Animal Collective is used in a Crayola commercial

Hummer used the song Don and Sherri by Matthew Dear in their latest commercial

Mika's "Love Today" is in the Verizon commercials, as is Shiny Toy Guns

That's all I got as far as songs that many don't obviously recognize.

which is one of my jobs - and it aint cool. Its very very very hard work - the re-works you get asked to do are unbelievable...... The financial recompense is worth it though !

We also work as music supervisors for a lot of ad agencies, can be quite fun ...

The emergence of rock on commercials for products for middle-aged sedentary types confirmed for me once and for all (not that after a half century of rock I need much convincing) that rock is, if not really dead, in the same state of suspended animation that country, blues, and swing long ago sank into.

Nothin' wrong with that but I think it's time to look elsewhere for innovation.
