MIDI QUESTION

Ok I have been really frustrated with this issue. I have a Roland Fantom S and an MPC 1000 I want my mpc as a master and fantom as a slave. I want to play sounds from the fantom and have them sync with my mpc. im going midi out from mpc to fantom midi in then midi out of fantom to midi in of mpc. I put slave midi on fantom and have the midi synced up and recieving midi from fantom. The problem is I can play sounds from the fantom on the mpc but i can't play from the fantom and have it recorded on the mpc. basically i want to play sounds on fantom while having record on the mpc. Well hopefully you guys understand what I mean and if anyone can help thanks

It's hard to understand exactly what you're going for....but I'll give it a shot. So...you want to be able to trigger your Fantom sounds from the MPC, and also be able to record your fantom sounds into the mpc...right?

First of all, it's not necessary to plug your fantom midi out to your mpc in for what you're doing. You need to connect the AUDIO outs of the Fantom to the AUDIO inputs on the MPC...this is how you'll record the fantom sounds as samples on the mpc...if that's what you're going for.

No i have both the audio from the fantom and the mpc routed to my allen and heath. What I just want to do is play the fantom while recording sequences on my mpc. I know this is hard to explain but I just want my mpc as a master for recording ive seen people do this on you tube i just don't get what im doing wrong. mpc mdi out to fantom midi in then from fantom midi out to mpc midi in, put fantom as slave and it should work but it doesn't it's probably something so dumb that im missin man this is frustrating
