Anyone bought a record from the "last record" thread?

I'm just curious, since the threads been around for a while. If you have bought a record mentioned in that thread do you like it? What do you think?

Hi,
I ended up buying Nina Nastasia's The Blackened Air and Run to Ruin. Both are really good cds, but of the two, The Blackened Air is by far the best IMO. Also, while looking up Nina Nastasia I happened to come across a page with a song from Calexico's Feast of Wire, and have since bought that album too. I really made an effort to look up as much of the music on that thread as possible, and I thought it was cool to see the diversity of genres represented.

I bought a few albums off that thread.
The one that sticks out is Modest Mouse-Moon and antartica.
I had one of their earlier discs but it never blew me away but I have really gotten into The Moon...

Good thread.

What's your favorite thing about that album? Songs? There are a couple that I don't like all that much but some of them are amazing IMHO.

I really like some of the songs...3rd planet, wild packs of family dogs but the thing I most like is the overall vibe.
The album ebbs and flows and is really well put together with good interesting sounds and production.
It just "clicked" with me.

Another real oldie I have dug up...Yes-Close to the edge...great arrangements with some HOOKS.
Never been a huge Yes fan but there are some inspirational moments on that record.

I picked it up the other day...I like it but so far I think the Moon is a more cohesive album.

3rd Planet is a great tune, love the lyrics to that. I love how the album sounds kind of typical but still has odd elements for a rock record.
