Apogee Ensemble No PC drivers..why!?

It's crazy! The Ensemble would be my next unit but there are no PC drivers! - is this thing in some exclusive apple deal or do you think Apogee would like to sell more units, open up their market and client base and just make some easy coded pc drivers?! It's not that hard to make a little more money - loads of PC programmers out there!

Even if they said, 'PC drivers coming soon' they could sell a few more potential units. I'm peeved that i'd like to buy this but i can't. Not turning this into a Mc vs PC thing.. just can't fathom why oh why!

Apogee Ensemble. Why would this be an Apple issue??

Well... perhaps not... but logic is owned by apple, and the ensemble works suspiciously well with logic... and logic is not on pc, cause it's apples...

anyway... the rosetta 800 does work (but there is a price difference)!

I spoke to Apogee about PC drivers and they told me that they're not planning on any in the future. If they were I would snap up their Duet interface straight away!

Why you ask...?
I believe the Apogee Ensemble was specifically developed for the market in conjunction with Apple.
When Apple bought Logic, they got rid of the PC side of Logic.
When they needed an interface, they went to Apogee and had them specifically design products for the Logic/Apple.

So clearly you have two choices.
1. If you want to run Apogee, get a Mac.
2. If you don't, look elsewhere. (RME)

Because the majority of the music market runs on a Mac, I don't think you will see their policies change anytime soon.
AES is next week, let's see if they have new PC drivers for the show.

Apogee duet, Apogee Ensemble and also all Metric Halo interfaces only work on mac. I don't see the problem in that. There are enough interfaces that don't work well with mac and even more software programs so if we are talking about monopoly...

Apple releases working software, Microsoft releases software that makes everyone lose in the industry (including themselves and their customers). Its not an Apple vs MS debate but if a company chooses for a particular system to develop something for, its their good right.

There's nothing "fishy" or "secret" here...Apogee has always been perfectly open about this product (and the Symphony, and the Duet) being designed in conjunction with and specificaly for Apple. Just go to Apogee's website (or even Apple's) and it's fairly clear...

That's how they can get such low latencies on the Symphony stuff. They only have to worry about 1 driver and they get insider info about Logic, OSX and Mac hardware. Probably also get kickbacks and engineering help. Great for some of us-my Duet is pre-ordered!

adat doesn't care about operating systems, why do you? :D

but you don't need an interface if you just need a 8-channel-AD. (you could look for a used rosetta or something cheaper...)
