yes, I agree with chris. I had a 466 and installed jaguar...and went out that night to find a cheap dual proc 1gig...much better, even though those MDD machines are a pile.

Panther is a bit faster. If you are on 6.2 already, and happy with it, then more power too ya, and 6.4 should be fine, or not much slower than 6.2...

but if you are on 5.3, then be ready to go out and buy another computer. Let us know

Well I upgraded to a G5-2gig a week or so ago.
Needed the new computer anyway my old G4/400 was getting a bit long in the tooth. I still know a few people with 9600's wonder what they will do.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if my old G4 400 (AGP) will handle HD1. Digi's compatability site doesn't say it won't.

Anybody using a g4 400 (agp) with HD?

Luckily I have a 1.5 ghz pc I can stick HD in until I get a new mac if I have to.

Well I was running 6.2 on OSX partition of my G4/400 AGP it got slow sometimes. sessions with a lot of fades and stuff really slowed down. Was playing with a demo of waves IR-1 one instance killed the G4.. Upgraded to teh G5-2gig got like 16 Ir-1's running and had no problems wiht screen redraws.

PC I have no problems with it apart from I would loose a lot of plugins, that was why I switched from NT TDM to PC to start with.

Jax, if you were able to run 5.3.1 on 9.2.2, things would smoke along....osX, 6.4, forget it, no really, forget it

Why not change the processor

It cost me $ 500 to go to 1.5Ghz from G4 400

I upgraded my processor and I haven't had any problems. The best thing you can do if you have a G4 processor.
I had a G4 400mhz and I upgraded to a 1.4gig. From what I understand OWC Processors are the best so thats what I bought and I haven't had any problems and it's super easy to install.

You love your Mac all over again.

What's the difference you ask?

With the 400mhz i was able to run 40 analog channels before it started to give out.
With the 1.4 Processor upgrade I was able to run 140 analog channels 2 Auto Tune and 4 Focusrite EQ's then my Mac said please could you start useing your Mix Farm Cards.....I then said ok I'm convienced.

I upgraded my processor (450Mhz to 1GHz), Sawtooth Mac (circa 1999).

OS 10.3.3, PTLE 6.4, all runs just fine. No issues.
