| Gear nut | I need the ULTIMATE LOOP Greetings lads, haven't been on here in a while, forgot how brilliant this site is. And now I yet again need some solid advice: What would recommend as the ultimate live rig loop pedal? I'm sketched out about the standard Boss Loop Stations and DigiTech Jam Man's. I want something that delivers pin-point precision as well as near perfect tone replication. Money, at this stage of things, is no object, though keeping it under a grand would be beautiful. Let me know any suggestions, I'll be looking forward to them as always. PiN |

| Echoplex digital pro. Best option available for live looping. Downfall is that it's mono...it's also about a grand. I sync to midi clock with it and my guitar loops sync flawlessly to sequences live. Really deep device if you get into it. It's only 41k sample rate (16 bit) which is weird, but I've never felt tone was an issue...the difference (if there is an audible one) is certainly undetectable in a live context. Haven't tried out the new Boss one...I'm sure it works well as Boss gear usually is solid, if not special. Cool that it's stereo, but I guarantee it isn't as deep as the 'plex...but also half as expensive. |

| a good friend of mine does a very complex loop-based performance show using the Electrix Repeater. like all great tools, it has naturally been discontinued but you can still find them.

| MOTU Ultralight or some other half decent i/o and Ableton Live with a foot controller. I use a combination of a Digitech/Lexicon JamMan and Line6 DL4 usually. When I want to trigger other samples in addition to capturing phrases, or capture phrases to multiple channels, I've used Live, though I'm not co-ordinated enough to do anything really fancy. I leave that stuff to players like Keaggy.

| Boss RC-50 is pretty capable. USB connectivity to dump your loops to your computer for backup and up to three totally independent phrases simultaneously. |

| Akai headrush works well for me. Whatever you get, make sure that it does infinite looping. Some models will start to fade out the initial loops as you add more. This can be a problem as usually the first loops have the main groove. They don't always tell you this in the manual. You have to try it yourself. This is a really good resource for loopers:- LOOPER'S DELIGHT! Scroll down to "tools of the trade" Good luck Blair |

Oooh....that looks nice. Expensive though. Bring the price down and it could be an "Echoplex killer"! Even for a EP fan like myself. | |

| Gear nut | Great suggestions guys, thanks for all of those. I'm looking into each suggestion right now. The echoplex definitely looks to be tops on the list right now for me though but I'll let you know how all that comes along. PiN |

| I owned a Repeater for years... ah those were the days. Had an Echoplex too but in the end I found that the Live/Mobius combo controlled by an FCB1010 to really be the best and most flexible. Mobius is like having 8 STEREO Echoplexes and it's free. I'm sure it doesn't do everything exactly like an Echoplex, but for the way I work it's perfect. |

| Gear nut | I'll give the Repeater a shot, though I must say I've been diggin the echoplex. It's damned complex though with all that you can do, and since I don't actually own it (been borrowing from a mate who has one handy in a studio) it's been a trip and a half to really get the hang of it all. Fun as hell though. PiN |
