best mic for vocal for 1000 $

what is your best choice for buy a mic for vocal, my bugdet is about 1000 - 1200$

Depends on the singer. The last 3 albums I have produced Shure SM57 and 58s have won the shoot outs.

I am in the same boat. I like the SM57 very much, but for softer female vocals I prefer e.g. the AT 4040 (through a DAV BG No1) by far. But I am looking for an even clearer, more open and more detailed sound. So I took a look at the Gefell m930. Are there better alternatives in this price range?

I got to use a the Mojave Audio MA-200 on a session last year, was really impressed. Had a smoothness and vibe that's hard to find under a grand. Worth a look, methinks...
