...looking for mixing engineer...

...i recently had a great band in my studio to record. The resulting tracks sound great, their sound is kind of a cross between At The Drive In and dEUS..they are curently unsigned but they took the step of recording the album by themselves. They are curently looking for someone to mix the stuff but who has previous experience in the field (ie not me) and/or credits hopefully?Obvliously budget is limited but not nonexistant. Is there anybody out there with some info as to how to approach anyone?or anyone here interested in having a go?pm me for myspace link.

Finding someone with credits isn't necessarily going to guarantee results for that specific project. i think it'd be cool to put the audio files up on a server and let folks who want do a mix give it a shot...then have the band decide who best matches their vision. if the budget is small, you're not going to get guys with major credits anyway...there are a lot of talented folks without major credits just waiting for an opportunity... Just a thought.

this is not true. At least not for me and my credits. If the music is good, the songs are not in a complete nightmare state technically, there is a chance that someone out there has the the time or desire to mix it. It is not always about the money. I do things like this under the right circumstances...

Cheers,
John

thanx for the replys...the bands name is Modrec (MySpace.com - Modrec - Athens, GR - Alternative / Lyrical / Punk - www.myspace.com/modrec). I too have no credits and i think i can pull off a mix or two but the band is in a hurry and they have already heard some stuff from various local mixers that they didnt particularly like.

Hmm 32 or 48 tracks of 24 bit wav files is gonna be HUGE. Better off sending dvd's.

Mix/bounce - export the song.

If you have three guitars, make them one.

If you have three synths, make them one wav file.

Have a lot of drums? Like 6? Make them two different submixes. 3 toms and kick snare highhat perhaps.

*** Bring the track count down to about 12-13. This is ideal.

If you keep up waiting and procastinating, make them 16bit files, then get an opinion of who you want to pay.

A good mix cannot be done without all the files. That would be like eating a hotdog with no mustard lol

You would likely get combined stems that needed individual processing...

They do this all the time at the Ultimate Metal forums. Matter of fact, I'm downloading one right now. It's about 240 megs in a .rar file. Even if the quality isn't superb, it will still be fun. Leave as many dry tracks as possible.

...wow...first i have to say im very impressed with the response for this...and thanx everyone who offered to do it....as some people are willing to have a go at mixing on song there is a link for two rar files which i uploaded to an online hosting service and ill send those links to people through pm (only cause i have no idea what the download bandwidth is on that server)the files are aroung 500mg in two rar files containing all the wave files...thats 35 24/48 wav files.Sorry about the labeling(some of the guitars are labeled by the mic used and i think it may be bit confusing but this is my fault as i originally exported the nuendo project and took the wave files from there(im at home now so i cant export a new one)...so give it a go if you want and the band will have a listen and decide what to do...

PM me those links bud, I'll do a mix at home and rework it at the studio if you thinks it's worth it. I have my own server space if you run into bandwidth issues.

I've had a look into the files..

the most of them (guitars) have diffrent filesizes???!!!

you need to have a correct 0 and endpoint for all exported files. even if you have a bit of guitar at the end, you need to export it too from 0 till end.

not possible this way.

cheers
