RME FF800 in standalone mode?

I'm borrowing a RME Fireface 800 tomorrow (more in/outs), to use in standalone mode through lightpipe from/to my Digidesign ADAT interface.

So, to get a quick start tomorrow I need some help:

- Do I need to install some drivers to get it working (or can I just hook it up)?
- If drivers are necessary: are there any particular settings I should use?
- Anything else I should do or think about?

System is: Mac/Pro Tools hardware (ADAT interface) and Logic 7 as the front end.

Thanks!

I have fireface800

I think you need to install it if you wanna change settings on the fireface but you should be fine just hooking it up like a normal converter if everything match your other hardware etc.

I have a FF800 and I can't remember how it comes configured from the factory.

The best way is to install the drivers, it comes with both MAC and PC drivers and the drivers are pretty stable, so no worries there. the interface (totalmix) is a little hard to deal with at first, but once you get it, it's really good.

The settings are pretty self-explanatory for the clock setting, etc. Those are in another window.

Have fun. It's a good unit. I love mine.

No, this won't work. By default, the unit is not programmed to act as a converter. This would have to be set and flashed, which requires driver installation.

Okay, got it to work after hours and hours of crazy routing in TotalMix.
Phew!
