Parallel EQ?

Anybody doing two identical tracks with different EQ on each?

I can see a reason for this if you've got parametric EQ and want to effect two frequency points in a similar area and you don't have overlapping bands on your eq. Or maybe other reasons?

But could this cause phase issues? I have heard that EQs can mess with phase; I am not sure exactly what this means but maybe it could cause problems when running two tracks parallel?

Anybody using a parallel EQ track in the same way parallel compression is used ie; wet dry? If so for what reason?

Just curious...

Not as such but I will sometimes split a track off to two ch. on the console and use two versions for different song sections- or (rarely) to an ADT and then the direct and delayed get a different EQing.

The example you're describing would probably be achieved more effectively using Serial EQ. Not Parallel.

I can't think of any use for Parallel EQ unless you did other things too. For example, crushing the overheads with compression and boosting the highs and cutting the lows and mixing that back in to the original.

im pretty sure this is a very bad idea unless you are using linear phase eqs.

Sometimes as effect and there is no firm advice what could be easily achieved by that.
I have couple of excessive EQs in rack, so it worked nicely with synths, bass lines, processed vocals, reverbs etc.
More kind of experiments that might add new colours.
