mixing guitar with wah wah

Hi Slutz,
I'm currently working on a project with a killer wah wah guitar solo. Only problem is, it seems to get lost in the mix when it goes into the heel down/bass position. Do you have any good strategies for bringing the whole thing up to the top, but without effecting the treble end so it gets too loud or screechy?

I'm guessing a good compresssor would do the trick, but I haven't had the time to try too many things yet. Just curious if anybody has any tips...

Thanks,
Andrew

EQ the things around it. Try automating the EQ perhaps.

Put a filter on it to get rid of any noise below 100htz. Then solo it with the bass and kick drum. Extreme cut and sweep from 100-600hz till you hear in even clearer over the bass and kick, then set the amount of cut (make it smaller) till it feels right. Then add some from somewhere between 600-5k. Sweep an extreme boost to find the right frequency, and then bring it down to a pleasurable level. bypass the solo, listen in the track, and make any subtle adjustments from there.
