Insulation for Studio walls?

Rock wool, R19 or Owens Corning 703/705?
Advantages, disadvantages...sufficient/overkill...cost vs performance?

- Single story building, no basement, concrete slab (wood floor eventually).
- ext. wall double 5/8 with Green glue? sandwiched. metal studs. int. wall double 1/2 or 5/8...not sure yet.

703 is overkill for the inside of the wall. Rockwool or r19 is fine given your construction. The insulation won't contibute to blocking sound, it just keeps the wall cavity for resonating. You also need to use 2 different thicknesses of drywall in your layers. So if the ext.wall is doulble 5/8 the inside wall needs to be one sheet of 5/8 and one of 1/2.

Thanks.
I've never used Rockwool. Is it more or less expensive then R19 and can it be purchased at places such as Home Depot or Lowes?

You can't get it at Lowe's. You'll probably have to order it, it's about half the price of 703, about double R19.
