Using a different compressor with an Avalon 737sp...

Hey everyone --

Quick question, can u plug a different external compressor into the Avalon 737sp instead of using the Opto-Compressor on the Avalon?

Is there an insert on the back?

comp upgrade?

Isn't there a compressor mod from Audio Upgrades? If there isn't, there should be.

Everybody dogs the compressor out. IME its great for shaving a couple of db off of stuff while tracking. Its musical and transparent. It ain't broke!

Only redeeming quality about 737 compressor is ability to use mid EQ bands as comp sidechain input... nice for de-essing or taking the click out of a bass track etc. Other than that i've found the compressor almost useless.

You don't need an insert for using another compressor with the 737... just plug the 737 output into whatever comp you wanna use. Downside is EQ will be before compression, but I can usually deal with that.
