In memeory of Hilly Kristal

FYI, Bill Popp called one of my friends to let her know that Hilly Kristal (CBGB's fame) has past away.

Apparently it hasn't been announced yet, but I passed by the old CBGB's location last night and saw a lot of lit candles and such.

With that said, Punk still lives on.

Apparently there is a memorial service/concert being planned. If I hear of anything I will post it.

R.I.P. Hilly....

R.I.P. Hilly. Without CBGB's, New York is dead to me.

Yet another piece of the NYC music scene gone...

Like many others in NYC at the time, I worked on Hilly's own record "I Like Mud". Just being around the guy always put a smile on my face. I'll certainly miss him far more then I'll miss the men's room at CB's.

This Monday, Sept. 3 (Labor Day), I will be doing a tribute to Hilly Kristal on my radio show "Jimmi Accardi's Rock & Roll Party". Hilly was 75 and passed away a few days ago from lung cancer.
He was the owner of CBGBs and gave my band ("The Laughing Dogs") a place to play our original songs as well as so many other bands in the 70s and 80s.
I'll be playing stuff from the "Live @ CBGBs" album as well as cuts from other bands who got their start at his club.
The show is from 2-4pm Pacific time at http://www.kvmr.org
Just go there and press "Listen Live" if you want to hear the show.
(I've heard that this kind of streaming audio works best with "WinAmp")
