Inside joke

As some of you know, wife and I are selling the house and building a new studio. Wife wanted an idea of what things cost---hmm...so, I prepared this little primer, and decided I may as well cut and paste it here:

A starter mic:

http://www.vintageking.com/data/1(2).jpg - $7,200

A little more mic:

http://www.soundbroker.com/MICROPHON...istingid=15153 - $9425

still more mic:

http://www.vintageking.com/data/1(7).jpg - $15,000

Now some tape to record to:

http://www.vintageking.com/data/A827PAIR.jpg - $21,000

Add some EQ:

http://www.vintageking.com/data/EMI_photo(1).jpg - $22,000

And compression:

http://www.vintageking.com/data/front(2).jpg - $28,000

We better think ahead, maybe we want to cut a record!:

http://www.soundbroker.com/RECORD_PL...istingid=14653 - $28,000 (not something most people would want, but a very cool esoterica--it will bring customers honey, honest!).

Now we mix it:

http://www.vintageking.com/data/Olympic%20Console.JPG - $165,000

Err, they wanted a more modern sound, so we better re-mix:

http://www.soundbroker.com/CONSOLE_R...istingid=15340 - $265,000

No, wait, I mean REALLY remix! :

http://www.soundbroker.com/CONSOLE/?listingid=16426 - $430,000 (and not even a picture!--Feel The BURN!!).

Oops, honey, did we check the bank account?

DOH!!

Oh, well--

A little mic then:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AT4060/ - $1099

Boost it and shove it in:

http://www.mercenary.com/beadandad.html - $1450

A little compression:

http://www.mercenary.com/realniccom.html - $175

But, baby, it IS ProTools! Honest! :

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MBox/ - $450

We are gonna be RICH, sweetheart, I promise!

The prize goes to who posts the smallest, most "insignificant-looking" item that costs the most. That way I can be sure to give the wife a heart attack=)

I think the EMI EQ is definately up there :-)

Best,

KT
