I picked up the new CD by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. A big thumbs up on this one. Produced by Mike Daly and Recorded in California, Phoenix and New York. Engineered by Joe Chicarelli, mixed by Michael Brauer at Quad in NY. Mastered by Chris Athens at Sterling in NY.
Ya know...I don't know if it was an SSL or a Neve...Pro Tools or 2". But she sure can sing, write, her band can play and the gents listed above did a great job.
I know Chris is around here on GS. I wouldn't mind hearing any recording/gear related tales now that the music has suckered me in.

Not sure what Daly and Chicarelli used.

If I remember correctly, I used mostly my Muth console, a Chandler compressor, a custom Sterling EQ and my Sontec EQ. Brauers mixes don't need much typically.

Glad you're digging it. They're a really good band and Grace sings her ass off.

I saw Grace Potter at the Wakarusa Festival in Kansas this year. HOLY CRAP! Great singin', great playin! The cd is worth checking out, but if you want a real treat, try catching a live show! Finally, an artist who can REALLY sing! These are too rare these days!

Nice! On my concert list. It is refreshing to see talented young singers such as Grace Potter and Brandi Carlisle kickin ass instead of showin ass to gain celebrity.
