Yea, I'm from Calgary, Alberta, and there are lots of studios of various types scattered throughout the city. Around here a fair sized studio can probably get around $90/hr, a pretty decent basement studio that puts out good records can get $50/hr, and a 'demo' sort of studio (like mine) can get around $25 to $30/hr.

There are 4-5 studios in Whitehorse.
Most charge $50ish hr.
The guy with the 24track studer, radar, Trident and some other real nice gear and mics... and a big room charges $75 per.

Whitehorse!!! Is it the Caribou records studio?
I spend a weeks last year in Whitehorse.I met a cool guy named Rollie. And he talk to me about a studio with a Trident in whitehorse. One of this day i want to go mix there.

I`m from Montréal and the rates seem to be same as anywhere in Canada

Yes that is Cariboo. Owned and run By Bob Hamilton.
Roly is a good friend, good tech too.
Were you playing up here?

No i was doing FOH for a band.
So you know Roly!!
I heard some stuff on the studio site.Pretty good sounding stuff.
The only reason we didn`t return to Whitehorse this year to mix was because of the plane ticket!!
We were surprise about the musical community over there.Really good

Another Canuck from the frozen north (tho rapidly thawing )

And FTR, Caribou (Records) is not solely owned/operated by Bob, tho the studio (Old Crow Recording) is...

PS: I'll vouch for Roly too: he's also a fair bass player

Lastly, we do have a pretty "tight" muscial community: tho it's a bit of a fishbowl

Elm Tree here, really is called that. 60 miles north of Kingston Ont., Ottawa 120 miles to east. Tracking and mixing I get 25-40$/hr depending on how much time is blocked out. Bands usually come for 2-4 days Do FOH for a few bands as well, with a rented system and get 150/ 200$ per gig. Taking a small hiatus from mixing and doing less tracking as my rooms are gutted and in the process for being re-done and expanded. I normally track some stuff in the house as I have soom nice bigger rooms and it's only 5 feet form the studio. But now I'm reduced to tracking solely in the house so I'm working on some of my own stuff and some smaller stuff. Hope to be up and running again, late fall. take care Logan
