sE electronics GM10 any good?

I can't find any post here on the forum on the GM10 because the word GM is to short to search. Has anybody tried it? How does it compare on classical guitar to other microphones in it's price range?

I see that no one has commented on this one. I made some very short (10 sek) recordings with the se10 here.
How do you like the sound of it?
Please comment on the recordings if you have time...
My comments on the mic is that it´s very practical, but is a sort of a pain to mount. Also not sure about the build quality (especially concerning the wear on the wire from the microphone capsule). No issues yet. generally happy with it.

you mean that one?

My guesswork is that the mic stand is a great idea but that the mic cant hold stand with a neumann KM 184. I bought the SE Reflection Filter by them and sold after using it one time.

So try to hire a KM 184 at a audio rental service for one day do your recordings and compare it to the SE....for sure your risk is that you have to buy the SE.

Just to remind you the neumann would be around 600$ but is worth every penny.
With a bit luck you can find one used for 500$ at e-bay.

By the way I see a problem with the GM 10 of mechanical noise via the guitar body through the shock mount.
They write there will be no problem but I guess this is not true If you would have to record a player like Don Ross there will be mechanical noise when he uses his guitar as drum.
Or hard strumming I guess you will hear unwanted noise from the guitar body.

Thanks, I should have been clearer, I'm talking for live use, (I have nice studio mics!)

I'm mostly interested in practicality, feedback, if it gets in the way, vibrations through the stand, if it stays connected, that kind of thing.

I'm not sure that this is meant for studio use as much as live, and aside from being ugly, it and things like it work fine as long as you aren't swinging your guitar around.

Incidentally, of the 20 times I've seen Don Ross, he's never used a mic on his guitar. Sunrise + piezo. It would be tough to close-mic his style on stage.

When you've seen Don in DE, was he playing with Michael Freidman?

I have one. not using it much.

its fine when I record myself doodling on the guitar, as I am no guitar player.

But, I find that a lot of artists just dont like having it there...it adds weight to their guitars...it restricts their movement somewhat...sort of working against the idea beghind the design...

and the mic is not that great

Yes Michael is Friend of mine.
No mics live and I guess the SE wont take away feedback either.

Don is a fantastic player I like his music a friend of Michael has done a record with Don in a church with one PCM by (Sennheiser I am not sure of the brand) on a big stand hanging in the middle of the room.
Finding the right mic position took two days.

It sounds awesome!!

Cool. I haven't talked to Michael in years, sadly.

Are you talking about Passion Sessions, done in Passionskirche? It was done with a stereo Schoeps. I heard the premaster and it was excellent, then I heard the mastered version and it was unbelievable.

Sorry yes wrong information about passion session.
Yes it was done in Berlin here.

Michael is not such a great player as Don but a wonderful musician who is creating with his voice and guitar so much space...take some guitar lessons from Micahel and youu will feel great after this .... he is one off the greatest teachers I have meet in 18 years off advancing training.

He studied music in East Berlin at the "Hanns Eisler" when the Wall was still there he had an Uncle living in the GDR.

The east German music education is function more about positive incentives ...i came from the west education there it was very destructive to the students.
