Use Logic to trigger a base drum and convert to MIDI ?

Hi

I have recorded a Metal band and want to try to put in a Sampled basedrum instead of the real one. Is there a way to let the computer (with logic 6) do this. Or do I have to put in all the hits by myself ???

Thank you

ALEX

Yes, as easy as that.

Logic creates an Midi Track and you could edit
the wrong triggers out.

I'd use Audio to Score (basically the same function as Audio to Groove with little differences in the resulting Midifile)

Cheers, n

How do you fix a terrible snare sound?
The answer is, a hit single. (Thanks, Trina)

A couple of details.

Before you do this. create the destination MIDI track and set the SPP to the same location as the start of the audio file.

When you pull up the audio file and select "Audio to Score" you can save a lot of housekeeping by setting the view to around 8 bars or so. This should be 8 bars where there's a lot of playing going on, snare, toms, whatever might bleed into the kick track. You'll see the resulting MIDI line below the waveform in the audio window. The height of the vertical lines indicate the velocity of the transcribed notes. If you have lots of really short lines, raise the "velocity" paramter until they've gone. You can quickly scroll through the track in eight bar segments and eliminate 90% of the false hits using this method.

You'll have to use a transform edit to fix the pitches of the transcribed track.

In case you don´t know:
You can even delete false triggers by clicking on these lines in the results area!

Is there a way to acheive this in PTLE?

Any one know how to do something like this in ProTools LE? I know there is the SoundReplacer plug-in (TDM only?), but I don't think that converts to MIDI. This seems like a very slick/useful feature of Logic.
