Got Adam A7s, need sub?

Hello all I just bought a pair of Adam A7s and I'm very excited about it. I used to have HR824s but I didn't feel like I could trust them. They made everything sound big and full and perfect. So I got some A7s but I imagine I'll need a sub. I don't know much about subs as I've never had to learn

First of all... do I need a subwoofer? The A7 manual says they go flat down to 52hz, but I've looked at some graphs of them that make them appear to go down to 40hz and then roll off. I probably won't be doing hip hop, or boomy electronica but I'd like to be able to clearly hear the bass.

Some models I've been looking at
KRK RP10 Sub - $200
Tannoy TS10 - $400
Adam Sub 8 - $700
I would really like to solve this problem for around 300 until I can afford the adam sub.

Been listening to some of my mixes and they sound pretty good. The bass is there. Is there going to be stuff that I'll be missing without a sub? Will I really be able to hear the bass and kick drum with just the A7s?

Try working with the A7's alone for a while.

Get to know them. Listen to your mixes on other systems and see how they translate. (They should do that pretty well.)

If you're producing stuff that 'hits' pretty heavy in the sub-regions below 50Hz, or if you need to be analytical about screen pops, etc., then you might indeed need a sub. (Adam is recommended, but not necessarily the only answer...just work well together.)

YMMV.

It doesn't really make sense to spend 300 then save another 700. Just save your money and work with what you have right now. Plenty of people use the A7's with no sub and do just fine.

You probably don't need a sub, at least for a while. +1 on learning these. I have the p-22's, and even though these could be complemented by a sub as well, I get very consistent sound on varied systems without.
