Portland, OR - Mixing Engineer

Long time lurker...great boards, great info.

I'm hoping some of you can refer me to a mixing engineer that will take a project in Sonar (Cakewalk). I know that whittles it down to perhaps .001% of all engineers out there, BUT if there is one within a 5 hour drive of Portland, OR, it'll be all the better. Cost is not a concern.

I've recently completed the recording of my album and took a shot at mixing it. The mix is just as I want it when monitoring in my home studio, but not so much everywhere else.

So, I'm really just looking for an engineer to lend their ears in getting the mix to translate (adjusting eq, levels, compression...). Though, I'm also open to the idea of them adding their own "signature sound" to it. However, I want to avoid having to rebuild each song, which is quite the task given their intricacy, so I need to keep it in Sonar.

Your advice, as always, is much appreciated.

Please PM me if it's not kosher to name names in this thread.

Best,
j

I don't know of many mixers out there that are going to be willing to just tweak your eq/compression settings...
If you want someone else to mix it, you're going to have to let them do their thing.

If your mix is really in place then maybe you just need a good mastering guy to help it translate?

Thanks for the response Jerry.

This is fine as well and I'm certainly open to that, so long as I'm into "their thing". I guess my point was that they wouldn't need to reinvent each piece if they so decided.

That's a good point. Though I don't really trust that my mix is in place. Perhaps a chat with a mastering guy might clear things up??

If you can bounce it down to just consolidated wav/aif files then I'm sure just about anyone could mix it for you. Jackpot's a pretty nice studio in SE Portland.

Bounce it down like tibbon said. In addition to jackpot, there's a really nice little studio in north Portland called Smegma studios. The guy who runs it has aa really good ear, IMHO.

Thanks for the Portland recommendations...will check it out. Though, at this point I'm still resistant to having each song mixed from the ground up.

Any recommendations for a mix engineer anywhere that will take a Sonar project?
