Speaker height & Soffit mounting

Hello all, I am soffit mounting my studio monitors and need to know the correct height they should be at. I have searched and only came up with someone mentioning the tweeter should be ear level, while you are seated at your desk.

Is this correct? Because, I have seen studio designs with the speakers much higher from the floor.

Thank you

As far as I have always been told you can have them higher but they should be angled so the tweeter 'points' down at the ear.

We used a large (3' x 3') set square and a cheap laser level taped to it to get the right angle at our place.

I need to do a little modding to our front wall as it was built for Tannoy dual concentrics with the tweeter just above centre. Our new 3 way designs have the tweeter at the top edge so it is pointing above my head in the listening position.

when mounting speakers at an angle remember that you are changing the distance relationship between the drivers and hence the time alignment which changes the way you percieve the sound.

Which model do you intend to mount?

I'm just going to have the speakers flush with the wall (no angle) It comes out to around 36" tall to the bottom of the speaker, that will put the tweeter even with my ear.

I am mounting Yamaha MSP5's

They have a -2DB low cut, wish they had more.
