MOTU'S HD192 fan noise?

Just picked up the hd192 today. Finally got the pci card installed and got everything up and running then I notice this loud humming sound, the speakers were not even on yet. So it turns out the sound is comming from the hd192. It's louder than the computer. Any other users out there encounter this problem?

I have a 192 and it's pretty much dead quiet. At least compared to a computer.

However a friend of mine had a very noisy one that turned out to have a faulty fan. Sounds like you do too.

I agree.. my 192 fan runs louder (not excessively) for a couple of seconds.. then goes into a whisper mode. If you have it mounted with no air flow, perhaps yours is staying on high (or is faulty)?

If the fan is a 12v model, more than likely it is a standard size that can be replaced with a Panaflo type.

These run in a sealed oil bearing, and are incredibly quiet. I install them in all my client's computers. They run forever, also. Price is ballpark $12, and can be had from many computer supply houses.

www.heatsinkfactory.com is one that I use for Panaflo + Alpha PAL8045 heat sinks.
