Willie's American Guitars (www.willesguitars.com). It's in St. Paul, but that's right next door to Minneapolis. Drool-worthy vintage gear - guitars, amps, and such, not recording stuff, though.

i live here (well at least for another week, then i'm moving back home due to money). um, i hear the bob dylan museum is pretty nice. never been there. when are you leaving? friday night, there's a venue called "the rock" a little ways outside of mlps that "black light burns" is going to be at. black light burns is wes borlands new band, the old guitarist of limp bizkit. they are kind of a NIN meets powerman 5000 with some limp bizkit riffs thrown in. i like them. the rock itself is not a bad sounding place. some times, they can have the bass way too loud (one time i felt like i was going to puke the bass was so loud), but usually, it's sounding pretty balanced. my roommates band (black days down) plays there a lot, and they will be opening for this show. they are a pretty good rock band (breaking benjamin meets chevelle meets seether). the bar/club scene is decent. walk down first ave in downtown mlps, and you'll see a run of clubs and bars, but me not being a club guy, it's not that special. that's the best i can do for you.

Not sure what you like to do. There is always the Mall Of America, if you like to walk around in really BIG malls. ![]() If you like to enjoy the outdoors, I would suggest strolling around the lakes in s.w. Minneapolis, Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet, Lake of the Isles, all right next to each other. This time of year the scenery is really nice. ![]() For clubs and restaurants, check out the City Pages. You can pick them up all over, or see the online version. City Pages - Music, Restaurants, Movies, Arts, News and Classifieds Weekly in Minneapolis & St. Paul Where are you from?

I would go straight to the Monte Carlo - 3rd ave between 2nd st. and Washington for a steak and scotch. After that, maybe a little drive over to the lakes, Then a walk down Nicolette mall. And don't forget to stop by and say hi to Ed, and Peter over at FLOWERS studio (call first of course) The Walker art center is the bomb, and if you like polka...and who doesn't... dinner at NYE'S POLONAIS (sp?) Have a great time dd |

| verticalendeavors.com Indoor climbing at it's best! I spent 3 hours there and it seemed like 5 minutes. If I lived there, I would be there nightly ...really great place. Can you tell I like indoor climbing?

For a little breakfast sluttery, head towards Uptown and go to Isles Buns & Coffee: http://twincities.citysearch.com/pro...e_company.html Hands down the greatest cinnamon buns ever. Their espresso also rocks. Then, if you have time, take a walk around Lake of the Isles (two blocks to the west; sligtly more than 2 miles around). Gorgeous old homes, and you can see some of the native fish jumping from the water most days. |

Barley Johns Brewpub Barley John's Brew Pub If you like beer, check this place out. The food is great, but the beer is absolutely phenomenal. Personally, I love their porter and brunette. Also check out other local breweries like Surly and Flat Earth. |

If you're still reading this-2nd on Barley John's, great place. If you are in to Middle Eastern food Holy Land or Crescent Moon Bakery in Nordeast, Modern Cafe for great breakfast on the weekend. For music you can try the one of many places in and around the West Bank area (Cedar Cultural Center, Nomad Pub, Cabooze, Blue Nile, Whiskey Junction, Triple Rock). I don't know what's on the calender this week but a concert at First Ave can be great. Also, there are some good concerts at the Minnesota Zoo amphitheatre. There are tons of great restaurants in South Minneapolis, try Nicollet Ave between about 28th an and 22 nd St S ("Eat Street"). If you like theatre there is the Guthrie (awesome) and a number of other great theatres. Walker Art Center is great and the Institute of Arts in South Minneapolis is a great walk if you need to be inside. Another music store worth checking is Twin Town on 34th and Lyndale. Lots of vintage guitars and amps. Encore music is just up the street at about 24th(?) and Lyndale, also lots of used vintage. Not really any place to find used recording gear anymore (although Twin Town and Encore have some). And as mentioned above you gotta take a walk around one of the lakes (or Minnehaha Parkway). Hope you have fun!

You could drop by beautiful Latch Lake and pickup a copy of my Valley People Dynamite manual, and see how we make the best guitar slides and mic stands out there. A mere 10 minutes from the airport/Mall Of America. But you'll want to call a day early so I'll have time to copy the manual. 651-688-7502 |

For a concentration of music, gear sluttiness and good food a drinks, head to uptown, which is just south of downtown Minneapolis. Start with the trendy Lake St. and Hennepin Ave S. intersection known as Calhoun square and see some excellent independent films at the Lagoon and Uptown cinemas. Check out the Uptown Bar and Cafe (we played there recently, lots of cool local bands playing there recently). Tons of food options around there. All of these things are within a block of the Lake and Hennepin intersection. If i would have seen this post Saturday, I would have told you to check out the impromptu neighborhood party that i played in and did sound for with touring and great local acts in someone's back yard. things like this are happening all the time in Uptown. Just walk down the sidewalks on the major streets and look for scenesters shuffling awkwardly towards loud music. For sluttiness, there isn't much in the way of recording gear per se, but Check out Twin Town Guitars on 34th and Lyndale in uptown. Lots of great instruments and gear. Always interesting used pro audio stuff and great prices. They have a pretty sweet studio in the basement there from what I've heard. Also check out Treehouse records on 26th and Lyndale if you're looking for a selection of esoteric vinyl and cool people. If you stop in there, wander across the street and check out the CC club. Good food and I think they are still trying to get rid of the [great] local summer ale on tap called Summit Scandia. You can get a pitcher for $8.75. Its not a gay bar but watch out for the territorial lesbians with BMX bikes parked out front. Also not too far from uptown is the Walker Art Center and Sculpture Garden. They have a Picasso in America exhibit that I've heard is incredible. The sculpture garden is free and a Minneapolis must see. Head north from Uptown to Lowry Hill on Hennepin or Lyndale and you can't miss this giant glittering stainless steel construct. There are some good acts to see at the Cities' premiere downtown venue First Avenue this week. The Cribs on Wednesday and Kings of Leon on Thursday. There: you have no excuse but to have fun. |

Hi guys. Work was extended. I am now here till monday night. Hey guys, I went across that 35W bridge about an hour before it went down! This is the second time this year that I have been close to tradgedy. Those two planes that crashed in Ohio that went down that was about 6 houses away from mine. Look Out! Anyways, I still have a couple of days of love for minneapolis left so no worries here yet. Anymore suggestions for the weekend ? I am going to try and see that guy at Latch lake and his microphone stands. Maybe tour paisley park or something ? Regards. Oh and thanks for all the suggestions so far. |

You could give Dan a call at Great River (651-455-1846) to see if you could stop by. Your about 15 miles from there. And give 89.3FM a listen while you're there - I really like it. |

Uptown Art Fair? Fringe festival? Ball game? I think there's quite enough going on this weekend to find something interesting to do.
