| Powercore and a G5? Since the G5 is apparently "oh so powerfull" would I really need to get the powercore to run the plugs? And the same question goes for the UAD-1 card. |

| You are making an incorrect assumption about the benefits of these cards. In short, the plugs-in are unique and designed to use lots of DSP to achieve their wonderful results... in other words... you should buy the cards for their great plug-ins and not for extra DSP. Consider the lack of a DSP hit on your CPU simply as a bonus. I have friends and clients with the PowerCore in their dual 2gig G5, and it is not because they need more power. It is because of the wonderful plug-ins!

| Thanks, I thought that you bought the card for the extra dsp power, I was mistaken. I didn't know untill today that you need the card to run the plug ins. |

| Yep, Powercore plug-ins are coded for the DSP chips on the PowerCore card. The UAD1 stuff is coded to run on the single "super" DSP chip on the UAD1 card. A plug-in maker (like Sony for example) can rewrite their plug-ins to run of different platforms and formats. ( For example, Sony plug-ins only support PTHD, LE, and the PowerCore.) The PowerCore is an open platform, so other companies can write plug-ins to run on the card. The UAD1 only supports Universal Audio's plug-ins. Also, the TC Electronic plug-ins that come with the PowerCore are great... especially the reverbs!

| If you have an expansion chassis? My sampletank upgrade takes 60% (8 instances, which I consider minimum) of my cpu without anything going on, doesn't leave much. I miss my T|C Mega reverb that I had with my old system and they won't update the promos from the past. To me the Card option seems pretty good. I have an expansion chassis and 4 open sluts.

| It is my understanding that TC does support the use of an expansion chassis. I would read up about it on their support pages.
